Equinox Reflection: Bench Prayer

Bench Prayer prose poem with image of Chippendale-style garden bench along a gravel path beside the Chattahoochee River with shrubbery casting long shadows

May I rest in quiet space where shadows fall—

beauty in progression—mist lifting

off the river, a bench waiting,

so I can sit in love and accept walking

a gravel path that roughens the soles

of my feet before I step on the fresh grass.

  1. Beautiful and comforting as are so many of your poems. The latest issue of Writers Digest had an interesting article about poetry and misunderstandings about it, etc.
